Definition Detective
One word a day, hidden behind the definition the 1913 Webster's dictionary gave it. The old wording is the game: plain enough to follow, strange enough to make you work.
You start with 100 points. Letters, three options, and a gloss for the definition's hardest word are all priced on their buttons before you spend anything. A wrong guess costs 15. Solve the word before the points run out.
Words come from ENABLE, a public domain list: 172,789 words after review removals, fetched 2026-11-03 from the dolph/dictionary copy of the list, commit c65f04b. Words are checked against ENABLE, not the official NASPA (NWL) or Collins (CSW) tournament lists: some tournament words, QI and ZA for example, are not in ENABLE, and some ENABLE words are not tournament legal, so for rated play, check the official list for your event.
